YA in Bloom is a casual lunch meeting for readers, writers, bloggers, and educators interested in young adult literature.
When: Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm

You are absolutely welcome to attend! :D We'll be posting more info on who is attending as people sign up. Booksellers are welcome too! And just regular folks, as long as you like YA :)
What are the meeting materials?
TBA. We'll email info about that as we get things sorted, to both the registered attendees and those who just signed up for information.
Will there be swag (i.e. bookmarks, advanced reader/promotional copies of books, posters, etc.)?
Yes. So far, publishers participating in the event include Flux Books, Simon & Schuster, Penguin, and Random House. Authors sending promotional items include Amy Dominy, Maria V. Snyder, Cheryl Rainfield, Lisa Schroeder, and Gae Polisner. We will have some items for all attendees and select items that will be raffled off at the event.
What food are you providing?
A light lunch (with variety so people w/ dietary restrictions, e.g. vegetarian, low sugar, etc. can all have something good to eat). Water and soda will be available; coffee and tea must be purchased at Zeli Coffee Bar on the first floor.

Sure! Fill out this form. Reminders and updates will be sent periodically. But don't forget, if you're attending, you must sign up and pay by June 18.
What is Book by Book?
Founded by Amber Lessa, Book by Book provides new and interesting books for schools in the Los Angeles area that have had their budgets slashed and their librarians pink-slipped :( Visit www.bookbybooknonprofit.org for more info! At the luncheon, each ticket holder will be able to enter to win a library booster box for a local high school of their choice, filled with recent YA hardcovers! Ballots will be provided at the event.
Oh no! The WriteGirlLA season-end celebration is the same day!
Don't worry! If this goes well, we'll have lots more meetings--we also plan to do a few different themes in the future.
